Apollo open optical line systems transports wavelengths from any router, switch, or optical transport system. All controls for Apollo wavelengths can also be applied to third-party alien wavelengths, including provisioning, performance monitoring, and dynamic WSON restoration.
Further, Apollo open OLS extends the concept of alien wavelengths to alien spectrum. This comes in two varieties. Spectral pipes allow end-users to setup their own wavelengths over point-to-point bandwidth. Spectral slicing takes this further whereby end-users can also manage spectrum through ROADMs as a virtual optical network.
